T is for Turtle

IMG_0950

T is for turtle, tortoise, and terrapin.  My totem animal, I had kept a terrapin in the class aquarium.  He was a bit of a grump.  He ate the tadpoles a child brought-in for show and tell.  We loved to give him a spot on the lawn and make a cage for him from building-blocks, that he wouldn’t wander.  Unfortunately, one day he ran-off and never returned.

The turtle can be made with a large oval for the shell.  Three small circles can represent legs and a head.  Children have fun drawing their turtle’s face, and all their creations have personality.  I’ve also added a wee little tail behind the shell.
