S is for Sun.  An archetypal sun can be crafted using a circle, three small triangles and three slightly larger triangles.

I like to sing my students a song that is special because my mother sang it to me when I was a girl:

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. 

You make me happy when skies are grey.

You’ll never know dear how much I love you.

Please don’t take my sunshine away.

We also experiment with shadows.  Walking across the basketball court at differing times of day, we observe our shadows and wonder why they’ve changed.
