Working with students’ parents is always intense. It is a profound relationship built on trust. Teachers are entrusted with a parent’s most precious being. Waldorf pedagogy indicates that the karmic relationship in Preschool/Early Childhood education is the karma between teacher & parent- rather than the teacher & student.
Another cute idea I’ve heard about the parent & teacher relationship in Preschool is related to the idea that often young children speak in imagined truths. A good agreement between parent and child would be: I’ll believe 80% of what the child says about you; If you believe 80% of what the child says about me.
Ultimately, I think parents just want to know that teachers love their child. And ultimately, teachers just want to know they are trusted.
